In this blog we will discuss and review some of the best mics for recording vocals. We encourage you to join in the conversation with some of your first hand experience. We will also look at the vocal chain (ie. EQ’s Mic-Pre’s, Compression etc.) and see what combinations are working best. Of course, we would also like to add our two cents when it come to purchasing your recording microphones. For over 20 years I have dealt almost exclusively with Boynton Pro Audio located in upstate NY and selling pro audio gear since 1953. ( Man, that’s older than me.)
As with most singers and musicians starting out, it is hard to afford the real high end vocal microphones such as a Nuemann U87ai. However, in todays world there are many mics that are reasonably priced that sound great. We will cover the gammitt from inexpensive to high end microphones.
